今の世の多くの人間は努力の金も支払わずに
「成功」の品物を買おうとしているようだ
少なくとも小なる努力で
大いなる成功をしようとしているようだ
そうは問屋は卸してくれない
百円硬貨で千円の品物を買おうなんて
それは野暮な考えだ

Today, many people try to buy an article of "success" without paying any money of "effort."
To say the least, they try to achieve great success with little effort.
They are expecting too much.
It is a stupid idea to shop for an article of 1,000 yen with a 100 yen coin.

　to say the least 「控えめに言っても」
　achieve 「得る、獲得する」
　They are expecting too much. 「そうは問屋はおろしてくれない。」
　　 →「彼らは多くを期待しすぎている」が直訳
　stupid 「おろかな」
　shop for ～ 「～を買う」
